The state Board of Education will review and vote on the proposed changes to Ed 315, rules regarding home education at their next meeting on July 20, 2023. The rules have as much legal weight as state law, so staying informed of changes is important to the homeschool community.
The rules must be revised to align with changes caused by the deregulation bill that passed last year, HB 1663.
The Home Education Advisory Council (HEAC) reviewed the initial proposal at our January 2023 meeting; it is slightly different from the final version proposed for review on Thursday.
From here, the rules advance to the Joint Legislative Committee on Administrative Rules (JLCAR).
