During National School Choice Week, thousands of events are held across the country to celebrate the wide variety of educational opportunities available for K-12 students. These include local district public schools, chartered public schools, magnet schools, private schools, online learning, and home education.
Granite State Home Educators celebrated National School Choice Week with a virtual Spirit Week Contest from January 23 through January 27 and had 10 families play along. We had silly themes and activities planned every day – silly hair day, hat day, and pajama day were some of the themes and some of the activities were go outside, do something hard, and help someone. Families participated from home and then shared photos in our Facebook event to score points with one winner receiving an Amazon gift card. Four families participated every day and submitted a “show us you’re a homeschooler” photo for the tie-braker activity. It was impossible to choose from them, so the winning family, chosen at random was the Parasco family!
Mom, Andrea, said, “They will be so excited!! Thank you so much! I wrote the days and activities on the calendar and they woke up first thing each morning excited to start! Thanks so much!!”
She added, “I love that homeschoolers don’t have to miss out on fun activities like this, that I remember doing in school. We will keep this tradition every year! Thanks, again.”
We hope everyone had fun playing along.
