The Classic Learning Test (CLT) is not aligned to Common Core (aka College and Career Readiness Standards) and an alternative to the SAT and ACT college-admission exams. It is designed for high school students and also serves as an end-of-grade assessment for secondary schools. Students take the CLT on a computer or tablet and receive same-day test results.

The CLT is open to all students — public, charter, private, and home ed! There are no restrictions for participation.

The fee is only $54.00; registration and payment can be completed online.

The exams is only 120 minutes plus one restroom break. a little longer if the student does the optional essay. It consists of verbal reasoning (40 minutes), grammar/writing (35 minutes), and quantitative reasoning (45 minutes), plus an optional essay section (30 minutes). There is an optional essay portion. A practice test is available online for free.

Students who need accommodations can make arrangements directly with CLT. It is recommended to contact them at least 8 weeks ahead of the testing date. Read this for more information.

The CLT is gaining acceptance at a number of prestigious colleges across the country including Baylor University, Aquinas College – Nashville, Georgetown College, Hillsdale College, and many more.
