Re: Education Freedom Account Reporting Error
I am writing to formally address an error in the 2022-23 Education Freedom Account vendor report published by the Children’s Scholarship Fund. On page 9 of this report, “Granite State Home Educators Marketplace” is incorrectly listed as a vendor with a transaction amount of $270. This error has recently received media attention through a series of articles in the Concord Monitor, making it particularly urgent that we correct the record.
As the representative of Granite State Home Educators (GSHE), I need to clarify several important points:
- GSHE is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization dedicated to serving New Hampshire’s independent home education community. We are not, and have never been, an education provider or vendor.
- The “Granite State Home Educators Marketplace” referenced in the report was simply a Facebook group we administered to facilitate the exchange of used homeschool resources between families. GSHE did not participate in any transactions or exchanges within this group, which was closed in November 2024.
- I have contacted Class Wallet directly regarding this matter. They have confirmed that Granite State Home Educators is neither a current nor former/inactive vendor in their records. They were unable to determine how our Facebook group was listed as a vendor in the EFA report.
- We suspect this may have been an isolated incident where a single purchase was erroneously approved despite GSHE not being an approved vendor.
Given the public attention this error has received through recent press coverage, it is crucial that this misrepresentation be addressed promptly. Granite State Home Educators, along with all our affiliated social media groups and profiles, exclusively serves as a home education support organization and community resource. We do not provide educational services or products for purchase.
I respectfully request that this error be corrected in any future publications or updates to the report, and that a note of correction be issued to address this misrepresentation.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
